WW1 Reporter
Of course, during A time of war Europe changed dramatically. In 1914 the streets were full of chaos. At the age of nineteen boys could volunteer their services by fighting in the war. Soldiers began taking anything they needed from the locals. At first horses were a big part of the war. However, new machine guns severely reduced the effectiveness of cavalry. Life was different for those fighting in the war, and also for those like myself, just living in it. Soldiers were completely committed, if they turned back they would be shot. They had to run through no mans land where it was likely they wouldn't make it out. The lives of the townspeople had changed significantly from before the war to after it. Families were torn apart, the townspeople's houses had been ransacked. "The war had taken everything from everyone." After this four year war, it finally happened, we heard bells ring, and were relieved that the war was over.
