 The Civil Rights movement took place in the 1950s and into the 1960s.The purpose was to promote Civil Rights for African Americans many of whom protested the way they were treated. They wanted to stop segregation and injustice once and for all. They resorted to violence to prove their point.

                                                1. 1979 - The Soviets invade Afghanistan

      2. 1988 Soviet troops begin to withdraw. Men of the Jihad feel excited and victorious. Bin Laden becomes a hero in the Muslim world.

3. 1990 A Iraq and Saddam Hussein invade Kuwait. Saudi Arabia accepts protection from the U.S over that offered by Bin Laden, which enrages him.
