Red Sox

"source"
I chose this picture because it shows Boston's pride ,and captures team spirit. In the picture the teammates are celebrating together. With the event of the Boston bombing recently the Red Sox have a reason to give it their all. This picture shows how when you work together you can accomplish way more than you could alone. With the motivation of each other and the Boston Strong behind them, this team should be unstoppable.

Immigration

"source"
I chose this picture because it's a good representation of how life was during this time period. During the time period of immigration, a ton of people intended to find a life for themselves in the United States of America. It was chaotic. People had to pass medical exams and complete other tasks before entering. The nation became known as the "nation of immigrants".

Present Day Child Labor

"source"

The picture I chose is picture number 30. I thought that out of all the photos this was the one that best captured the essence of child hood labor today. In the picture boys who appear to be around the age of five are working on construction. The caption stated that they only get paid in basic nescessities. The young children are obviously working with dangerous tools, and extending themselves more than they should. These days kids are no longer allowed to just be kids.

Lewis Hine's Photos of Child Labor

I chose this picture because I feel this is the one that captures the feel of life in the mills. The little girl standing there ,being forced to work in awful conditions shows just how awful it was to live back then. The girl is young and by the expression on her face is clearly afraid , and uncomfortable being there. The photo shows just how terrible the cleaning conditions had been, and how there was no sympathy shown to the young weak ,and fragile.
